Designing a DAC, headphone amp and pre-amp in one box without compromising the performance of any of these components is not easy: it requires excellent circuit design skills and sound quality control plus a good deal of tweaking and fine-tuning over time to balance the performance of each component. The CMA800i achieves a no-compromise solution.

The Questyle Audio CMA600i headphone amplifier section follows Questyle’s patented "Current Mode Amplification" design used in their flagship headphone amplifier, the Questyle Audio CMA800R. In fact, most of the components used are the same. 

With ultra low 0.00026% distortion, ultra wide bandwidth up to 850kHz (+0, -3dB), and Super-current pure Class A architecture, the Questyle Audio CMA800i’s amplification is unparalleled among all-in-one DAC/amplifiers.

World-Class DAC with True DSD Processing


CMA800i is designed with Questyle patented True DSD technology and Wolfson WM8741 DAC chip. Unlike other DACs that claim DSD support when in reality providing DoP (DSD over PCM), the Questyle CMA800i accepts the DSD bit-stream directly, bypassing your computer's audio processing and digital volume control, as well as the CMA600i's digital filters, to provide True DSD, with no PCM conversion.the way it was meant to be heard.

The Questyle Audio CMA800i achieves this without requiring expensive, difficult to install, proprietary connectors. Neither does it require, as is the case with DoP, breaking up the bit-stream into 16bit packets, compressing them into a PCM data-stream then uncompressing and buffering them at the other end, and reassembling the bit-stream so that it may be sent to the DAC as DSD. A huge amount of processing is required at both ends in order to perform this in real-time - which invariably leads to latency, data loss, etc, and a 33% increase in bandwidth requirements for the USB ports and cabling.

Separate pre-amplifier section

The Pre-Amplifier output is another shared feature of the Questyle Audio CMA800i and CMA600i. Many manufacturers, when designing an all-in-one model, use the headphone amplifier circuit loop to support the pre-amplifier output to reduce costs. To achieve the best possible sound performance, the Questyle Audio CMA600i is designed with a totally independent pre-amplifier.

10mm Thick Aluminium cover and bottom chassis

The Questyle Audio CMA800i’s aluminium chassis is produced by Foxconn, using precise CNC tooling machines. The specially tooled "mutual-bit" structure makes the chassis strong and stable. Each side of CMA800i has balanced weight since its internal weight is evenly planned. CMA800i's feet are made of pure aluminum, helping to avoid resonance. Even every screw is precisely CNC-tooled into "CD texture", giving CMA800i another unique feature.
